Lake Benmore Camping Ground (Ohau C) provides a Kiwi camping experience for families or couples on the shore of the pristine Lake Benmore.  It's the perfect location for relaxing, fishing, and watersports for all the family to enjoy.

While there are no powered sites, there are toilet and freshwater facilities.                                                                                      

 

Ohau C Camping Ground

Summer camping season opens on Saturday 21st September 2024 and closes on Sunday 27th April 2025. 

Classic Kiwi Camping: 

Casual camping fees: 

NZ$30.00 per night per camp site (2 adults and 2 children under 15 years of age).

Additional campers -  Adults NZ$15.00 per person - Children $10.00 per child campers.

 

Peak Season. 

Applies to our 10 Lake Front Sites only

20th December 2024 - 10th February 2025. 

NZ$40.00 per night per campsite (2 adults and 2 children under 15 years of age).

Additional campers -  Adults NZ$15.00 per person - Children $10.00 per child

Casual campings is a first in first served basis with the exception of Christmas / New Years period. 

Christmas / New Years booking from 20th December 2024 - 6th January 2025

Outside of our Christmas / New Years bookings, please arrive and choose from one of our marked casual sites. 

We have 10 marked lake front sites and 7 marked sites in the middle of the campground.

The back of the campground is a large open area, where you can make your own space. 

The information and payment for casual camping is found at our information area in the middle of the campground, past the boats ramps.   We operate an honesty system.  You will find the camping registration tickets at the information area.  We accept cash payments and direct to account. No eftpos at present

Boat ramp access is included in your camping fees.  

We have permanent summer sites available for this summer season.  

2024/2025 Season Pass: NZ$950.00 per season.  Terms and Conditions apply.

Lake Benmore Camping Ground - Ohau C is an easy 15-minute (sealed road) drive from the township of Twizel,

 

At the end of the canal road, stay on the tarsel and head down the hill towards the Dam, you will see our entrance to the right of the dam.

We offer the following facilities:

- Tent, caravan, and campervan sites (unpowered) 

- Tapped water (requires boiling before drinking)

- Men's and Women's toilets

- Dump Station for campervans

- Rubbish station

- 3 lane boat ramp and jetty

- Vehicle and boat trailer parking

Boat Ramp: 

Boat Ramp only: NZ$10.00 per day per boat - This cost does not apply to registered campers in our campground

Boat Ramp Season Pass: NZ$100.00 per season per boat (28th September 2024 - 19th September 2025)

Casual or day Parking: NZ$5.00 per day per vehicle (for vehicles not using the boat ramps)

No overnight Parking.  As our boat ramps exist inside our campground, all vehicles must display a pre-paid camping ticket.

 

All paid campers receive complimentary use of the boat ramp and other facilities during the summer camping season. 

Winter Camping:

29th April 2024 - 20th September 2024- NZ$10.00 per night. 

There are no rubbish or water facilities.

All rates are non-refundable.

 

Please note:

Dogs are welcome if kept on a lead at all times and must be treated for parasites before camping.

NO firearms are allowed in the camping ground.

No fires or fireworks. 

NO dirtbikes are allowed in the camping ground.

Quad bikes or side by side vehicles are by prior agreement only. 

To respect other campers we ask that noise is kept to a minimum between 10.30 pm - 7 am

Generator use is restricted to between 8am - 8pm.

Payment Policy

To confirm your booking we require a non-refundable advanced payment that covers one night stay.

By paying this you are also agreeing to our booking conditions.

Newer rates may come into effect after our annual review in September.  The newer rate will be charged accordingly.

Cancellation Policy

If you have paid in full in advance, the minimum non-refundable fee will be deducted from your refund.

There are no refunds for leaving prior to your original scheduled date, including departure due to weather, bad behaviour or eviction.

Cancellations must also be in writing or email one week prior to arrival.
