Lake Benmore Camping Ground (Ohau C) provides a kiwi camping experience for families or couples on the shore of the pristine Lake Benmore.  It's the perfect location for relaxing, fishing and watersports for all the family to enjoy.

 

While there are no powered sites, there is toilet and freshwater facilities.  Gas cooking is allowed but it is important to note that there is a total fire ban across the Mackenzie Country.                                                                                             

 

Ohau C Camping Ground

Directions:

 

Lake Benmore Camping Ground - Ohau C is an easy 15 minute (sealed road) drive from the township of Twizel, with the final 300 metres on an unsealed road. Please follow speed limits on the unsealed road to respect other campers.

Ohau C opens on the 3rd weekend of September each year and closes over the last weekend of April each year. The camping ground is also open throughout the off season, without facilities. Please see below for seasonal pricing.

We offer the following facilities:

 

- Tent, caravan and campervan sites (unpowered) 

- Tapped water (requires boiling before drinking)

- Men's and Women's toilets

- Dump Station for campervans

- Rubbish station

- 3 lane boat ramp and jetty

- Vehicle and boat trailer parking

 

Classic Kiwi Camping: Camping instructions

Please choose an available casual camping site when you arrive and use the ticket system to pay at the main toilet block.

Camping information is displayed at the main toilet block in the middle of the campground, past the boat ramp.

Boat ramp access is included in your camping costs.

Season Pass: NZ$900.00 per season

Casual Camping: From * NZ$30.00 per night per camp site (2 adults and 2 children under 15 years of age). Additional campers - NZ$15.00 per person (Conditions Apply)

Boat Ramp only: NZ$10.00 per day per boat - This cost does not apply to registered campers in our campground

Boat Ramp Season Pass: NZ$100.00 per season per boat

Casual Parking: NZ$5.00 per day per vehicle

 

Peak Camping: Lakefront

1st December - 28th February

NZ$40.00 per night per campsite (2 adults and 2 children under 15 years of age). Additional campers -  Adults NZ$15.00 per person - Children $10.00 per Child

 

Winter Camping:

25th April 2023 - 23rd September 2023- NZ$10.00 per night. 

There are no rubbish or water facilities. 

Boat ramp $10 per day per boat - See season pass rates for boat ramp

 

All paid campers receive complimentary use of the boat ramp and other facilities.

All rates are non-refundable.

 

Please note:

 

Dogs are welcome if kept on a lead at all times.

NO firearms are allowed in the camping ground.

NO dirtbikes are allowed in the camping ground.

To respect other campers we ask that noise is kept to a minimum after 10.30pm.

Payment Policy

To confirm your booking we require a non-refundable advanced payment that covers one night stay.

By paying this you are also agreeing to our booking conditions.

Newer rates may come into effect after our annual review in September.  The newer rate will be charged accordingly.

Cancellation Policy

If you have paid in full in advance, the minimum non-refundable fee will be deducted from your refund.

There are no refunds for leaving prior to your original scheduled date, including departure due to weather, bad behaviour or eviction.

Cancellations must also be in writing or email one week prior to arrival.

Refund will be made to credit cards.
